
Join us for the heartfelt opening ceremony of the 80th Annual Central States Fair in Rapid City, South Dakota, held on August 15, 2025. This special event kicks off a week of family fun, agriculture, rodeo, and Western heritage with inspiring speeches, proclamations, and traditions. Warm welcomes come from Governor Larry Rhoden and General Manager Ron Jeffries. Board president Jim Hunt shares touching reminiscences about pioneering families and past directors. A Lakota prayer and ceremony is led by Reverend Dr. Gerald Yellowhawk, honoring Native traditions and community spirit. The dedicated board of directors, staff, and volunteers who make the fair possible are introduced. After official proclamations are read, the Pledge of Allegiance is led by youth and the governor, followed by the exciting ribbon cutting to officially open the gates. From extreme bronc riding and PRCA rodeos to carnival rides, livestock shows, concerts, and delicious fair food, the Central States Fair brings together over 130,000 attendees for unforgettable experiences.
