Sculptor Tony Chytka shows the bronze pieces for each event winner at this year’s Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche, SD. He walks through the lost wax casting process he handles start to finish in his own foundry, from the initial mold to the final sandblasting and welding, plus the bronze plaque that marks the specific event. This year’s awards carry an extra touch with July 4, 2026 noted right on the bronze to mark the country’s 250th anniversary. Tony also shares how his own rodeo days competing at the grounds back in college and during the 4th of July events helped spark his move from riding to capturing western action in bronze.
