Congratulations Cash Daigle, a senior at Sturgis Brown High School on being named the 2025 South Dakota High School Journalist of the Year, from the SDSU School of Communication and Journalism.  In this video, Cash visits with Tim Potts and reveals how his love for storytelling and English fueled his rise to editor-in-chief of the school’s newspaper and magazine.  He shares the thrill of breaking a standout story about the Scooper Sam mascot, earning a superior award and leading his team to dominate the state journalism competition. Cash gets candid about overcoming hurdles like tight deadlines and tricky communication, crediting several mentors for their guidance. With his sights set on studying English education and journalism at the University of South Dakota, Cash aims to shape future journalists as a teacher.
