
The Spearfish High School Girls Wrestling team showcases a blend of seasoned talent and emerging athletes. With a roster of 14 dedicated girls, the team has secured its fourth consecutive Black Hills Conference championship. Highlights include senior Madelynn Schlup’s victory at 114 pounds, sophomore Morgan Little’s triumph at 107 pounds, and the Matsuda sisters, Candice and Mathilde continuing their title winning streak. Fresh talent like Macey Shockey, who embraced wrestling this year, and eighth-grader Vanorah Carlson, add to the team’s dynamic spirit. Also hear from sophomore Makita Raysor as she touches on her history with the sport and her second-place finish. Under the guidance of Coach Joel Martin, the Spartans are not just competing; they’re excelling, fostering a family-like atmosphere that nurtures growth, resilience, and success on the mat.
